NIGER ASSEMBLY SPEAKER COMMENDS HON SANI IDRIS FOR HIS EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMME.

The Speaker Niger State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon. Barr. ( Dr.) Abdulmalik Muhammed SarkinDaji has commended Hon. Sani Idris for holding an empowerment program for youths.

He gave the commendation at the official opening ceremony of the 12 Weeks Digital Skills Training Programme for 500 Youths, which was sponsored by Hon. Muhammed Sani Idris, Member Representing Tafa Constituency.

Delivering his Goodwill message, the Speaker appreciated Hon. Muhammed Sani Idris for organizing this historic empowerment programme for the people of his Constituency which is targeted at the Youths to enable them have knowledge on digital networking Business.

He further retreated that the present 10th Assembly is committed to providing basic social amenities to the people at the grass root level to compliment the efforts of the present Administration in the State.

He urged the participants to be good ambassadors of the Local Government and encourage them to key into the training and take it seriously.

Speaking earlier the Member Representing Tafa Constituency at the Niger State House of Assembly, used the avenue to appreciate the Speaker, Members of the 10th Assembly and other dignitaries for finding time to witness the official flag off the Digital networking Business.

He said that 500 youths were selected from the various ward in Tafa Local Government Area . He appealed to them to justify their selection by participating fully in the 12 Weeks Digital networking Business Training that will be of benefit to them.

Dignitaries who graced the event includes, State Assembly Members, former Speaker of Niger State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Bawa Wise, Chairman Tafa Local Government Area, APC Party Chairman Tafa amongst others.

NIGER ASSEMBLY PASSES N230,300 BILLION SUPPLEMENTARY BUDGET

Niger State House of Assembly has expressly passed into law a supplementary budget of N230,300 billion for the 2023 appropriation bill.

The Speaker, Barrister Abdulmalik Sarkin Daji while passing the bill said the supplementary budget is to enable the government to fund critical projects that will stimulate growth and development of the entire economy.

He stated that the supplementary budget was necessitated by expected additional inflow from UBA of one hundred and eighty-seven billion naira, Federal Government infrastructural grant of forty-two billion naira and NCNI series three bonds of one point three billion.

According to him, the capital expenditure comprised over N211 billion while the recurrent expenditure is over N19 billion.

Barrister Sarkin Daji said the budget affected personnel, overhead and capital expenditure adding that all the capital projects are viable and are in line with the priority of the government.

Earlier, the speaker announced an emergency sitting of the house on Tuesday which was recalled back from recess in which the house unanimously agreed to refer the bill to the committee on appropriation for further scrutiny.

The passage of the supplement budget is coming barely after about one month of releasing 25% to many contractors worth billions of naira in Niger state.

NIGER STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY RECIEVE’S 2023 SUPPLEMENTARY APPROPRIATION BILL.

The Executive Arm of the Niger State Government, has sent the 2023 Supplementary Appropriation Bill to the State House of Assembly for Consideration and passage into law.

The Speaker of the House Rt. Hon. Abdulmalik Muhammad Sarkin Daji announced this at an emergency sitting of the House which was recalled back from its recess today.

He appealed to his colleagues to contribute to the debate for early consideration of the Bill and quick passage into law, in order to consolidate on the gains recorded in the State so far .

The House unanimously agreed to, after a voice vote refered the bill to the committee on appropriation for further legislative scrutiny.

NIGER STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY ASSURES NIGERIA UNION OF TEACHERS (NUT) OF IT’S SUPPORT.

The Speaker Niger State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abdulmalik Muhammed Sarkin Daji, has applauded the efforts and contributions of Nigeria Teachers in Nation building.

He disclosed this during this year’s World Teachers Day Celebration organized by the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Niger State Wing.

The Speaker expressed appreciation to the Nigeria Union of Teachers on the auspicious occasion of World Teachers day celebration.

Bar. Abdulmalik assured them that the 10th Assembly will continue to legislate on laws that will have direct benefit to Niger lites to compliment the efforts of the present Administration’s policies in providing and improving Education in the State.

He further added that the assembly with continue to synergize and support the Teachers with necessary legislations that will improve the Educational sector of the State.

Niger State Government has commended members of LLB class of 2009 for celebrating the Speaker of 10th Niger State House of Assembly,Hon.Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin Daji who is also LLB class of 2009 of Usman Danfodio University,Sokoto.

Deputy Governor,Comrade Yakubu Garba,who made the commendation said Hon.Sarkin Daji is who one of the good ambassadors of LLB Class of 2009,described the Speaker as one of the most successful politicians in Niger State.

Comrade Garba noted that the Hon.Abdulmalik was one time Council Chairman of Mariga Local Government Area,Commissioner and presently member of Niger State House of Assembly, who also doubles as the Speaker of the House.

He urged the Speaker to continue with the good job he has been doing for the people of the State and assured him of the Executive Arm of Government’s unflinching support to the Legislative Arm for the socio-economic development of the State.

Earlier,the Speaker, Niger State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abdulmalik Muhammed Sarkin Daji has commended LLB Class of 2009 of Usman Danfodiyo University, Sokoto for identifying and felicitating with him on his emergence as the Speaker of the 10th Assembly.

The Deputy Speaker, Niger State House of Assembly, Hon. Afiniki Eunice Dauda has disclosed that Niger State House of Assembly will partner with NGOs on girl child education.

She made the disclosure when she received the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Maya Care Foundation in her office at the Assembly Complex in Minna.

LINATV Correspondent Harajana Umar Ragada reported that Hon.Afiniki assured the CEO of Maya Care Foundation and her team of the 10th Assembly’s Legislative Support and collaboration in the areas of improving Girl Child Education and out-of-school Children in the State.

In her remarks, the CEO and Founder of Maya Care Foundation, Hajiya, Safiya Abdulmumuni, Congratulated the Deputy Speaker and Members of the 10th Assembly for their successful inauguration and used the opportunity to inform the Deputy Speaker that Maya Care Foundation is a non-governmental organization that is particular about Children and out of school Children especially, girls.

The Founder further explained that their major focus is to pick them up from the street and send them back to school by giving them quality Education, Conducive environment and learning materials.

She also said that the foundation has been to some states in Nigeria, adding that the foundation has also carried out a Women empowerment program as well as supporting a school in Gurara Local Government Area of Niger State.

She further stated that the foundation is having an annual Programme every September when schools resume and this particular year they would be holding it in Niger State.

NIGER ASSEMBLY INAUGURATES HOUSE STANDING COMMITTEE ON SPORTS DEVELOPMENT

In a bid to strengthen sports development in Niger State, the Niger State House of Assembly has taken a significant step by inaugurating a House Standing Committee specifically dedicated to promoting sports activities within the state.

This move comes as a result of the assembly’s recognition of the vital role that sports play in fostering unity, talent development, and overall socio-economic growth.

Lina TV House of Assembly correspondent Harajana Umar Ragada reports that the ceremony, took place at the State House of Assembly complex on Tuesday 12th September 2023.

The event was presided over by the Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Barr. Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin Daji, who emphasized the importance of sports in driving socio-economic development and improving the lives of Niger State residents.

He also called on members of the committee to pay attention to sports as it is an investment but it is not given the desired attention. Therefore, Niger State miss out participating in sporting activities.

The Honourable commissioner for sports who was represented by the Special Adviser on Sports, Abdullahi A. Suleiman reiterated that the Ministry is open for synergy to make Niger State Number one in terms of sports development.

Members of the committee include Hon. Ndagi Zakari (Chairman), Hon. Muhd Garba Agwara (Vice Chairman), Hon. Umar Nasir Paiko (Member), Hon. Ahmad Yahaya Abubakar (Member), Hon. Isah Abdullahi (Member), Hon.Aliyu Shehi Wushishi (Member), and Comrade John Musa (Committee Clerk).

The committee Chairman Honorable Ndagi Zakari stated that their mandate includes conducting a comprehensive assessment of existing sports facilities, collaborating with relevant government agencies, and formulating strategies to attract investments in sports infrastructure, adding that they plan to organize frequent grassroots sporting events.

NIGER ASSEMBLY URGES EXECUTIVE TO ESTABLISH A SPECIAL HOSPITAL FACILITY FOR BANDITRY AND KIDNAPPING VICTIMS

Niger State House of Assembly has recently passed a significant motion, calling on the executive arm of the government to establish or designate a special hospital facility specifically dedicated to the treatment of victims of banditry and kidnapping in Niger State.

This motion comes as a response to the escalating incidences of banditry and kidnapping in the state, with a need for dedicated medical assistance for the victims.

The motion was moved by the Honourable member representing Munya constituency Hon. Joseph Haruna Sdzuda who expressed grave concern about the increasing rate of banditry and kidnapping incidents in the state, resulting in injuries and trauma for the victims.

He highlighted the necessity of providing specialized medical care to ensure proper treatment, rehabilitation, and psychological support for all victims affected by these crimes.

Furthermore, the establishment of this hospital facility will not only focus on physical healing but also place emphasis on the mental and emotional well-being of the victims. It will have dedicated rehabilitation programs, counseling services, and support groups to ensure comprehensive care for all individuals affected by these heinous crimes.

The Niger State House of Assembly firmly believes that the proposed special hospital facility will play a vital role in addressing the immediate medical needs of victims and contribute towards their overall recovery and reintegration into society. It will also send a strong message to bandits and kidnappers that the government is committed to protecting the citizens and will leave no stone unturned in ensuring their well-being.

The motion, which garnered unanimous support from all members of the assembly, will now be forwarded to the executive arm of government for consideration and necessary actions.

Hon. Murtala Adamu Badaru, the chairman of the committee charged all civil servants and unions that are under the committee to give them the maximum cooperation to change the narrative to a better one. He added that they are aiming at seeing that there are no issues of pension and gratuity in Niger State.

In an interview with Lina TV, the Niger State NLC Chairman Comrade Idris Abdulkarim Lafene disclosed that they are doing everything possible to make sure that backlogs for gratuity are being paid accordingly.

Niger State House of Assembly speaker urges collaboration between the Ministry of Health and the House of Assembly to enhance health and nutrition in the state.

He made the call during the inauguration ceremony of the House Standing Committee on Health and Nutrition, at the assembly complex on Thursday 31st August, 2023.

Lina TV correspondent Harajana Umar Ragada reports that During his address,The Speaker Rt Hon. Barr. Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin Daji, Represented by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Afiniki Eunice Dauda, emphasized the need for synergy, stating that cooperation between the Ministry of Health and the House of Assembly is essential to develop effective healthcare policies and strategies, allocate appropriate resources, and oversee the implementation of health programs in the state.

Hon. Afiniki also urged the newly inaugurated House Standing Committee on Health and Nutrition to diligently perform their duties by conducting robust oversight of the Ministry of Health’s activities.

In an interview with Lina TV, the chairman of the committee Hon. Umar Nasiru reiterated that the committee would do their best to deliver their mandate, while also calling on the State Government to reactivate automatic employment to curtail the issue of shortage of staff in our hospitals.
