NIGER STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY PASSES INTO LAW A PRIVATE MEMBER BILL FOR A LAW TO AMEND THE FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY COMMISSION LAW 2010 AND FOR OTHER CONNECTED PURPOSES

The Niger State House of Assembly has passed into law a private member bill for a law to amend the fiscal responsibility commission law 2010 and for other connected purposes.

The Bill was passed at today’s plenary of the House following Presentation of the report by the Joint Committees on Finance, Local Government, Judicial and Legal Matters by its Chairman, Hon. Aliyu Sheshi Wushishi, Member Representing Wushishi Constituency.

Presenting the Committee’s report, the Chairman of the Joint Committees informed his colleagues that in carrying out the assignment, the Committee convened a stakeholders meeting in order to obtain expert opinions and to also create public awareness about the proposed Bill.

The Joint Committees’ Chairman further explained that from the meeting held and careful study of the Bill, the Committee made the following observations/ Findings:

That the Bill seeks to amend the Law establishing the Commission, and that the Bill seeks to provide funding for the Commission, that the Bill also seeks to provide punishment for violators of provisions contained in the Fiscal Responsibility Law.

At the end of his presentation and clause by clause consideration of the Bill, the House unanimously passed the Bill into Law.

The plenary of the House was presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Barr. Abdulmalik Sarkin -Daji. He commended the Joint Committees for a job well done and directed Clerk of the House to transmit 5 clean copies of the Bill to the Farmer Governor for his assent.
