LINA TV NEWS: NIGER GOVT CLEARS OVER N200MILLION WAEC DEBTS
Niger state government on Tuesday disclosed that, it has offset the over N200 million debt owed the West African Examination Council (WAEC) for students in the state.
Making this disclosure, Special Adviser to Governor Umaru Bago on Print Media, Aisha Wakaso during a parley with Journalists in Minna said as part of the governor’s transformation agenda, efforts are beingade to ensure that the National Examination Council (NECO) is also cleared.
It should be noted that, these debts were inherited from previous administrations.
According to her the government has been able clear the WAEC fee backlog of two hundred million, sixteen thousand and sixty five kobo (N200,016,000:65) by the previous administration.
Furthermore, she said, the government will continue to pay the sum of thirty million Naira )N30 million) monthly for the NECO backlog.
