INTL DAY OF GIRL CHILD:NGO URGES GOVT TO ADVANCE RIGHTS OF GIRL CHILD IN NIGER.

A non-governmental organization (NGO), Esteemed Hub Foundation has stressed the need for governments at all levels to advance the rights, opportunities and well-being of girl children, by investing in girl education, promoting gender equality and fostering a supportive environment.
The Executive Director, of Esteemed Hub Foundation, Princess Duoosugh Agbadu made the plea during an awareness campaign to Mariam Babangida Girls Science College Minna, as part of activities to mark the 2023 International Day of Girl Child, with the theme, “Investing in Girls Right, our leadership, our well being”.
Princess Agbadu noted that the campaign was aimed at creating awareness of the importance of the day, especially for the girls on the need for them to always remove anything that would cause low safe esteem on them.
Princess Duoosugh represented by the Admin Officer of the foundation, Dominic Eigbegbea stated that the girls were reminded to always be bold and take charge and ensure that nobody marginalizes them.
“Our message to the girls in the street who don’t have parents to send them to school is that, they should not give up, continue to be hardworking, don’t be lazy, and believe that as long as you are living, one day, somebody will send you to school and get the basic education that would enable her to express herself in the society”.Duo said.
The Executive Director had earlier unveiled Africa Activits for Climate Justice club in the school.
According to her, “We will run the club for three months, from October to December, adding that every week, our team will come round to educate the girls on the importance of tree planting, preservation of the environment, global warming as well as climate justice”.
The Esteemed Hub Foundation is in partnership with Education as a Vaccine(EVA), with support from the African Women’s Development and Communication Network (FEMNET).
Earlier in his remarks, the Vice-Principal Admin, Mariam Babangida Girls Science College, Mr. Steven Tajero described the awareness campaign by the Esteemed Hub Foundation as an added advantage to the girls in the process of their learning.
Mr Tajero explained that the foundation has impressed the school management and the students, pointing out that the awareness had also impacted positively on the life’s of the students.
“We are excited because our students have learned new things and it will reflect in their academic performance”.Steven added.
Highlights of the campaign were the distribution of learning materials to students.
