INSECURITY: NIGER STATE GOVERNOR VISITS CHIEF OF AIR STAFF, CONDOLES WITH NIGERIAN AIR FORCE
*****CALLS FOR MORE PRESENCE OF ITS PERSONNEL AND FIGHTER JETS IN THE STATE
Niger State Governor, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Umaru Bago has solicit the deployment of more Air Force personnel and Fighter jets to support ground troops in the fight against bandits and criminal elements in the State.
The Governor made the call when he paid a condolence visit to the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar at the Nigerian Air Force Headquarters, Abuja, over the helicopter crash that resulted in the loss of lives of its personnel in Shiroro local government area of the State.
He said the deployment of the Air Force personnel would help in having more rapid response to any security threat.
Governor Umaru Bago who described the helicopter crash as symphathetic, appreciated the efforts of the Nigerian Air Force in containing activities of terrorists and other criminal elements in the State.
Governor Bago assured the Nigerian Air Force of the State Government’s commitment to providing all the needed support saying, the Government is ready to provide accommodation and other facilities for personnel.
The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar thanked the Governor for the visit and reiterated that the Nigerian Air Force will remain undaunted even in the face of challenges to deal with banditry and insurgency that have plagued the Northern Region.
Air Marshal Bala Abubakar also identified Government approach as key in addressing the Security challenges and called on Nigerians to support the Armed Forces through information sharing.
