Governor Umar Bago has called on journalists in Niger state to be good ambassadors and maintain the ethics of the profession

Governor Umar Bago charged journalists in the state to be good ambassadors as they maintain the ethics of the profession
He made the call while receiving the executive of the Nigeria Union of journalists (NUJ) Niger state chapter led by the chairman Abu Nmadu at the government house.

The Governor expressed his gratitude and appreciation to journalists for reporting activities of the state, and encouraged them to provide wider coverage of the activities of the present administration
Speaking further the Governor noted the bad deplorable state of government owned media houses and said his administration will change the narrative.
Highlighting the state of Niger state Television (NSTV) the governor said the station will be rebranded and privatized to compete with other private television

NUJ chairman Abu Nmodu in his response, applauded the governor for his support in carrying journalists along and also appealed to the governor to include career civil servants who are journalists and are qualified to be permanent secretaries be considered for the position

Governor Umar Bago was bestowed Grand patron of the Union while the investiture will come up in October during press week
